What is CBD oil

There is a growing interest in hemp oil consumption. But many people do not know what it is, or how it can be used. As a result, this lack of understanding generates many misconceptions. So, what are the benefits of consuming it, and why its proving so popular.

Let’s try to understand all the issues and find out how you can benefit from using it.

Therapeutic benefits

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a product extracted from Cannabis Sativa L plants, more commonly known as hemp. It is one of more than 100 chemical compounds or cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.

It is a non-psychoactive substance packed with therapeutic benefits. In recent years, it became incredibly popular in the fields of well-being or general health and several medical studies back up benefits with scientific evidence and confirm the health halo of this plant.

What’s the difference between CBD and THC?

Another chemical compound found in hemp plants is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is psychoactive and responsible for the state of the narcotic effect, or what it is like of being “high”.

Despite CBD and THC similarities, such as 21 carbon, 30 hydrogen and 2 oxygen atoms, the arrangement of these atoms are very different for each compound. So their chemical formula gives CBD and THC contrasting psychoactive effects, affecting the body differently.

An easy way to understand the difference between CBD and THC is related to the way it makes you feel: CBD can’t be felt on immediate consumption, and THC is defined by the way it makes you feel immediately after consumption.

The high or euphoria feeling that THC creates is generated by the cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors in our brain which release neurotransmitters, while CBD binds very weakly with these receptors, hence the lack of the immediate psychoactive response.

Consuming CBD

CBD oil is not the only form of CBD that consumers use. There are different ways to take CBD: capsule, creams and salves, inhalers, edibles such as gummies and drinks.

Some of the common health issues include depression, anxiety, sleeping problems, heart disease, general help with pain, but it’s also a fantastic aid for skin problems such as rashes, acne, dryness, irritations, for muscle aches and pains and many more.
